Today marks the launch of Business in the Community Ireland’s Low Carbon Report. We are very proud to be one of the 47 companies in Ireland that are included in the report and have signed the Low Carbon Pledge.
What is the Low Carbon Pledge?
The Low Carbon Pledge represents our commitment to reduce our direct carbon emission intensity by 50% by 2030 and to report on our progress on an annual basis.
Why is the Pledge important?
We believe that it is essential for businesses to play a major role in addressing the climate action challenge. We need to work together and invest time and resources to enable a faster transition to a low carbon economy.
What are we doing to meet our commitment?
We are on track to cut our direct emissions by 50% before 2030. To do so we have been focusing on reducing our energy usage through energy saving equipment and technology, sensors on all our office lights, and awareness campaigns to encourage our staff to turn off lights and switch off screens and computers when not in use. This year we have also invested in switching to energy efficient LED lighting throughout our offices.
Our commitment to reducing our carbon emissions is a key part of our overall sustainability strategy which also looks to reduce our waste, increase recycling and engage in responsible procurement. Over the last 18 months we have
- Introduced KeepCups for all employees
- Installed compost bins throughout our office
- Switched to compostable items in our on-site restaurant
- Initiated a Firm wide campaign to demystify what goes in the general, compost and recycling bins
We take our environmental responsibility seriously and will continue to take steps to improve our sustainability.
