William Fry has announced the appointment and arrival of John O’Connor as a Partner in our Technology Department, as well as four new internal promotions to Partner: Sheila Tormey, John Magee, Paul White, and Graham Quinn. These appointments are across key areas of growth for the Firm including: Corporate, Competition, Real Estate, and Technology.
John O’Connor joins William Fry from Matheson where he led the Technology Law and Data Protection practices. John advises several of the world’s prominent technology, social media and life sciences multinationals and financial institutions on technology and outsourcing arrangements, cloud services, data protection and cyber security.
Sheila Tormey is a member of William Fry’s Competition & Regulation Department. She has extensive experience obtaining clearance for complex mergers, including media mergers, and strategic alliances, and advising on anti-competitive agreements, distribution agreements, the rules on dominance and State aid.
John Magee works in William Fry’s Technology Group where he specialises in Data Protection, Cybersecurity, Commercial Contracts, Intellectual Property, E-Commerce and Outsourcing and works with William Fry’s clients across a number of sectors including Technology, Telecoms & Media and Food, Beverage & Agribusiness.
Paul White is a specialist in the Firm’s Corporate Department and has advised on a wide range of corporate transactions and commercial arrangements for public and private companies.
Graham Quinn is a member of the Real Estate Department and has extensive experience in the acquisition and disposal of property, property based lending, and commercial leasing.

Laura Dunne has been appointed as a Consultant in the Firm’s Corporate Department. Laura advises on mergers and acquisitions, company restructurings, corporate governance matters and complex shareholder arrangements.
Ten new Associate appointments have also been announced. Ellen Chesser and John Troute will become Associates in the Corporate Department. Nuala Clayton, and Ciara Ruane are promoted to Associates in the Employment & Benefits Department. Tina Curran will become an Associate in the Tax Department. Deirdre Murphy, Sarah Twohig and Gerard James are promoted to the position of Associate in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Department. Rachel Mullery will become an Associate in the Banking & Finance Department. Noelle White will become an Associate in the Asset Management & Investment Funds Department.
