Crypto-Asset Service Provider Authorisations in Ireland

From 30 December 2024 crypto-asset service providers will require authorisation to operate within the EU.

William Fry’s Band-1 ranked Financial Regulation team has a strong track record of securing regulatory authorisations and registrations successfully and efficiently for a wide range of regulated FinTechs including virtual asset service providers (VASPs), payment institutions, crowdfunding service providers and one third of the electronic money institutions authorised in Ireland to date. Our briefing document provides an overview of the process and requirements for securing authorisation as a crypto-asset service provider from the Central Bank of Ireland, including information contained in the Central Bank’s MiCAR – frequently asked questions document published on 10 September 2024.
